in total with "Weekend At Bobby's" being his directorial debut. In the episode, Bobby (Jim Beaver) works on finding out about Crowley (Mark Sheppard) and his origins in order to try and negotiate for his soul back.
While Ackles is still in the episode as Dean, he takes more of a backseat, giving space to explore Bobby's character.
Thanks to this, audiences get a taste of what a typical day with Bobby looks like, from exploring lore to helping fellow hunters, namely Rufus, with a hunt. By focusing on the mundane and using repeated shots of Bobby answering phones or sitting down to do research, audiences get a unique inside look into life from Bobby's perspective.
Again, Ackles is less featured as Dean in this episode.
