Ackles starred in all 15 seasons of , playing Dean Winchester.
The spin-off, which Ackles narrates, is a prequel focusing on the parents of Dean and his brother, Sam (Jared Padalecki).
This cancellation news comes after a shake-up at The CW, which recently got taken over by new owners.
It was then revealed that the network, which launched shows including , and , would focus on unscripted shows in an attempt to turn more of a profit in the coming years
