Jennifer Aniston Was Part of a Decades-Long 'Friends' Mishap That Fans Are Only Now Seeing
Fans of Friends may believe they've seen everything there is to see, but did they catch the episode where Jennifer Aniston was forgotten in the editing process? The beloved sitcom aired on NBC from 1994 to 2004 and starred Aniston as Rachel Green, alongside Courteney Cox as Monica Geller, Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay, Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani, Matthew Perry as Chandler Bing, and David Schwimmer as Ross Geller.
Recently, a keen-eyed fan noticed a mistake in season 9, episode 15, titled "The One With the Mugging," which quickly went viral. In this particular scene, Rachel rushes into Monica's apartment to share the news that Joey has landed an audition with a fictional A-list actor named Leonard Hayes, portrayed by Jeff Goldblum. As the camera pans to Joey, it appears that Rachel is standing next to him.
However, fans soon noticed that it wasn't actually Aniston standing beside LeBlanc, but rather her stand-in. Interestingly, this was not the only editing error that slipped through the cracks. In episode 4 of the same season, titled "The One With the Sharks," eagle-eyed viewers saw a stand-in actress replace Rachel at the 12-minute and 20-second mark. Initially, Rachel is shown wearing a yellow shirt and sporting curly hair while sitting at a table with Monica.
However, when the camera shifts to Monica, a stand-in wearing a blue top and straight hair is visible on the bottom left side of the screen. After 17 years, the cast of Friends reunited for the HBO Max special, Friends: The Reunion, in May 2021. During the special, they shared their memories of the sitcom's impact on their personal lives and careers. Courteney Cox expressed her gratitude, stating, "It was an incredible time.
