One common mistake many reboots make is that they rarely change anything at all. Usually, a slightly modernized plot shows the same characters in the same situations communicating and joking just like they did in the canon.
This often leads to the reboots failing to reach the level of popularity once achieved by the original, which is paradoxical considering the majority of reboots are based on a purely financial decision to make more money from a once popular movie or show, not create something different and unique.
The creators of reboots often feel limited by a high-rating original, the fans of which should not be disappointed at any cost, even if it means changing nothing. Criminal Minds: Evolution seems to go the other way.
The changes begin with the new form of storytelling. All ten episodes of Evolution will revolve around one extra-difficult case instead of several cases as it was in the original show.
