After starting menopause in That '70s Show season 5, Red decided to cheer Kitty up by getting her a dog, hoping it would help relieve her sadness over not being able to have more children. Kitty immediately fell in love with the little Dachshund that she named Schatzi, but the dog followed a common sitcom trope by frequently disappearing from That '70s Show and inexplicably reappearing.

Schatzi's fate thus became one of That '70s Show's greatest mysteries, which That '90s Show expands on.

After being absent for a long period of time, Kitty's dog Schatzi returned and disappeared for good in the season 7 episode "It's Only Rock and Roll." While Red once referenced that Schatzi liked to hide underneath the Forman house, his disappearance at the beginning of That '70s Show season 7 was never explained, with the characters never mentioning Kitty's beloved dog again.

Since That '90s Show picks up over 15 years after That '70s Show's finale, it makes sense that Schatzi would not return in the sequel series, but there is an odd reference to the dog that brings the mystery of his disappearance back into question.
