Jennifer Aniston was reportedly among the first individuals to arrive at Matthew Perry's funeral last week. However, once they entered the venue, she mostly kept to herself. This portrayal of Aniston as a solitary figure at Perry's service, surrounded by their beloved co-stars from "Friends," supports reports that she is finding it particularly difficult to come to terms with his sudden passing. Perry, who confessed to having a crush on Aniston in the past, unexpectedly passed away on October 28 at the age of 54 due to an apparent drowning incident at his home in the Los Angeles area.
A friend of Aniston shared with The Daily Mail that she had "dreaded" this outcome for the past 20 years. Perry openly struggled with addiction to alcohol and drugs, experiencing multiple relapses, rehab stays, and severe health consequences. "It doesn't matter whether his death was the result of a freak accident or directly linked to his drug issues. This was a day that Jennifer has been dreading for 20 years.
She always wanted to assist Matthew in any way she could – that was a constant for her," the friend explained to The Daily Mail. When Perry managed to join his "Friends" co-stars for a reunion special in 2021, Aniston genuinely believed that his worst days were behind him. Therefore, his death just two years later has hit her hard. The funeral service for Perry, lasting an hour, took place on Friday at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills neighborhood.
Aniston arrived at the service accompanied by bodyguards. Outside the venue, she met up with Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow, all dressed in black, so they could enter together, as observed in aerial paparazzi shots obtained by the New York Post. Matt LeBlanc joined them later, and the group also gathered with Perry's family, including his mother Suzanne Perry, father John Bennett Perry, and stepfather Keith Morrison, according to the Daily Mail.
