Lisa Cash, an actor who appeared on the hit TV show "Friends" in 1999, recently revealed in an interview with TMZ that her role on the show was changed last minute. Originally, Cash was supposed to play a hotel worker that Chandler cheats on Monica with after an argument they have. However, Matthew Perry, who played Chandler, was concerned that the audience would not forgive his character for cheating on Monica, so he asked the writers to change the story.
Cash said that they had already rehearsed the scene and were set to film in front of a live audience when she was informed of the change.
Perry's decision ultimately protected the central love story of the show between Chandler and Monica. Perry's recent passing has brought attention to his role in protecting the legacy of "Friends". He unexpectedly passed away on October 28 at the age of 54. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed, but authorities found him unresponsive in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home.
There were no signs of foul play or drugs at the scene. Although Cash's original role was cut from the episode, she was recast as a flight attendant in a scene with Ross and Rachel. Cash expressed her gratitude for being able to work with Perry during rehearsals for the cut scene.
