Supernatural and Smallville are two popular TV shows that aired around the same time and share several actors. While the shows have different themes and tones, there were almost opportunities for crossovers between the two. Although the crossover never happened, Tom Welling, who played the lead in Smallville, made a guest appearance in Supernatural's prequel series, The Winchesters, as the brothers' grandfather.
It's fascinating to see how many actors worked together on both shows before or after their respective roles. Sara Canning is one such actor who appeared in both Supernatural and Smallville.
In Supernatural, she played Lydia, an Amazon woman who has a one-night stand with Dean Winchester, resulting in unexpected consequences. On Smallville, she portrayed Tess Mercer's personal assistant, Kat. Ian Tracey is another actor who appeared in both shows.
In Supernatural, he played Lee Chambers, a hunter who eventually dies and leaves behind a daughter named Krissy. He also portrayed Ishim, an angel commander who despises Castiel. On Smallville, he played Lincoln Cole, a menacing character who kidnaps Lionel Luthor and torments him with puzzles and later captures Martha Kent.
Emmanuelle Vaugier played Madison in Supernatural, Sam Winchester's first real love interest after the death of his girlfriend.
Madison is a werewolf that Sam and Dean try to cure but to no avail. In Smallville, Vaugier played Dr. Helen Bryce, Lex Luthor's second wife, who plots against him and eventually meets her demise. Robert Picardo appeared in Supernatural as Wayne Whittaker Jr., a leprechaun posing as a UFO-specialist. On Smallville, he played Edward Teague, a lawyer and member of the Veritas society who plays a crucial role in the destruction of Krypton.
