One potential contender is Jensen Ackles, known for his role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural. Texas-born Ackles possesses the perfect qualities to portray the "old country doctor" Leonard McCoy. Throughout his 15 seasons in Supernatural, he showcased his range as an actor, embodying the sarcastic yet lovable personality that would be a great fit for Bones.

Additionally, his role as Sheriff Beau Arlen in Big Sky and his current portrayal of Soldier Boy in The Boys demonstrate his ability to play a gruff and curmudgeonly character. However, it is essential for Strange New Worlds to complete the iconic TOS trio. The show has successfully introduced new Star Trek characters such as Lt. La'an Noonien-Singh and Lt. Erica Ortegas, and they deserve their moment to shine. Strange New Worlds expertly balances showcasing both new and old characters without detracting from the main focus on Captain Pike and his Enterprise crew. If Strange New Worlds continues long enough, it will eventually lead into Star Trek: The Original Series.
