Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy has yet to be introduced in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, but fans have been speculating on who would be perfect for the role. One potential contender is Jensen Ackles, known for his role as Dean Winchester in Supernatural. Texas-born Ackles possesses the perfect qualities to portray the "old country doctor" Leonard McCoy. Throughout his 15 seasons in Supernatural, he showcased his range as an actor, embodying the sarcastic yet lovable personality that would be a great fit for Bones.
Additionally, his role as Sheriff Beau Arlen in Big Sky and his current portrayal of Soldier Boy in The Boys demonstrate his ability to play a gruff and curmudgeonly character. However, his portrayal of Dean Winchester also highlights the more charming side that would align well with McCoy's character. With his recent projects, such as the cancellation of Big Sky and the Supernatural spin-off, The Winchesters, Ackles may have room in his schedule for a recurring role as Dr.
Furthermore, it would be a delight for fans of The Vampire Diaries to see Ackles and fellow CW star Paul Wesley, who played vampire Stefan Salvatore, act together. As Dr. Joseph M'Benga currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer on the Enterprise, it may take some time before Bones makes an appearance.
