Masterson had denied the allegations, and his case resulted in a mistrial before his retrial began. Masterson's wife, Bijou Phillips, stood by his side throughout the proceedings. Masterson was also written off of Netflix's The Ranch amid the scandal. Some of Masterson's accusers filed a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology, of which he is a member, claiming the organization obstructed justice. The church denies these allegations.
