Welcome back to Supernatural: End of the Road, our weekly review of the final episodes of the CW’s Supernatural. Be sure to read my previous reviews of “Last Holiday”, “Gimme Shelter”, and “Drag Me Away (From You)”, as well as the season fifteen recap. Compared to last week’s lackluster episode, “Unity” was a significant improvement, although it still had its fair share of plot holes. Let’s dive into the details of the second-to-last episode.
The episode begins with Team Freewill debating whether Jack needs to sacrifice himself to kill Chuck and Amara. Sam and Cas are strongly against this idea, while Dean and Jack are more open to the possibility. Tempers flare as Sam and Cas prioritize pleasing the audience. Dean asserts that Jack is not as important as Sam or Cas, which raises eyebrows among the Destiel shippers (fans who believe in a romantic relationship between Dean and Castiel).
Jack accidentally overhears Dean's comments and the two leave to follow the next step in Billie's plan. Sam and Cas remain behind to explore alternative options. Before Dean departs, he meets with Amara, who conveniently appears at the bunker to move the plot forward. Amara agrees to work with the Winchesters to trap Chuck.
The episode then shifts focus to Amara as she meets with Chuck to discuss their situation.
Their encounter is labeled with the name "AMARA" on the screen throughout the scene. Amara tries to convince Chuck not to destroy the last world, but Chuck declines. She declares that Chuck is the true villain, and the two are transported into a trap where Chuck is restrained. Meanwhile, Dean and Jack embark on a car ride to complete Billie's plan. This section is labeled with the name "DEAN" on the screen.
