Can there ever be too many Supernatural seasons, anyway?
Summary:
No matter what you think of the Supernatural grand finale, the show is definitely already a part of TV history. With Sam and Dean Winchester finally parking their Impala in 2020, the Supernatural fandom has been left to reflect and remember; and even the 2022 spinoff, did not quite bring back that good old vibe (although it desperately tried in its finale).
The Supernatural finale was a lot to process; some people hated it for robbing Destiel fans of all hopes, while others raised their eyebrows at the way the show killed off Dean. However, the fandom largely agrees that even 15 seasons were simply too much for Supernatural.
So, is the idea of reviving the show even worth considering?
Having wrapped up in 2020 after fifteen seasons, Supernatural has not announced that it will be coming back any time soon.
The CW made it clear it would keep Supernatural going if the ratings were high enough, but the creators also admitted that the story needed a strong ending before it turned into a pathetic parody of itself (which, according to some fans, had already happened after season 5).
However, Redditors still roll out their suggestions for a hypothetical season 16 every now and then. One of them seems particularly entertaining.
Those who insist Supernatural can't go on because both brothers are dead seem to forget just how many times the Winchesters simply came back from Hell, Heaven, Purgatory, and basically every single version of the underworld one can imagine.
