Viewers get a taste of the underlying anger that John is capable of in episode 4 when he fights the god Neto and doesn’t hold back in killing him. His quickness to want to kill Tony in episode 5 is also indicative of John wanting to lose himself in violence to forget his trauma and PTSD.

Because John’s rage was so palpable it was something Dean, even as a young child, could pick up on, Dean was often the brother who succumbed to his rage in . It’s fun to see the subtle connections between John and Dean, and there will surely be more for audiences to catch as more episodes of air.
