Fans of the TV show Supernatural know that death is not always permanent for their favorite characters. Throughout the show's 15 seasons, beloved characters have died, only to later return in some form. Whether they come back as ghosts, alternate versions of themselves, or are resurrected through mystical powers, death does not mean the end in the Supernatural universe. One such character is Kevin Tran, played by Osric Chau.
Kevin's death is one of the most moving in the series. He is killed while trying to speak to Gadreel, an angel possessing Sam Winchester. However, an alternate version of Kevin appears in season 13, when the brothers visit The Apocalypse World. Although the original Kevin does not come back to life, his ghost appears to Sam and Dean, helping them make amends and find peace. Another fan favorite, Charlie Bradbury, portrayed by Felicia Day, also experiences a resurrection of sorts.
After her second death, which upset viewers due to her status as one of the few openly LGBTQ+ characters on television, Charlie returns in season 13 in an alternate reality.
She assists the Winchesters with their cases and provides much-needed support. Jo Harvelle, portrayed by Alona Tal, is another character who returns to the show as a ghost after her death. Jo is killed by a hellhound in season 5 but later appears as a witness during Dean's trial.
Although she is initially compelled to harm Dean, she snaps out of it before causing any harm. Jeffrey Dean Morgan's character, John Winchester, makes a return in season 14. However, it is a past version of him who has time traveled to the present. The Winchester brothers meet their father in an emotional reunion but are ultimately forced to send him back to his time to avoid disastrous consequences.
