Nexstar, the largest local TV company in the country, recently acquired a 75 percent stake in The CW, while Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery retained 12.5 percent each. According to Deadline, The CW has chosen not to order additional episodes for the first season of The Winchesters, as well as for another spinoff titled Walker: Independence. Both shows will stick to their originally planned 13-episode format. It is expected that this decision will be upheld for all of the network's new shows. However, following the heartbreaking news of the show's cancellation, Jensen Ackles, who stars in Supernatural and serves as an executive producer for The Winchesters, launched a campaign called "Save The Winchesters." Ackles took to Twitter to address fans directly, asking them to use the hashtag #SaveTheWinchesters and show their support for the show. The entire cast joined in this effort, hoping to find a new home for the series.

In a video shared in May 2023, Ackles expressed his gratitude to the fans and their dedication to the show. He encouraged them to continue spreading the word and making their voices heard.
