Introduced in , Singer was played by Jim Beaver, who also portrayed 's Robert "Bobby" Singer, longtime mentor to Sam and Dean Winchester. Making the reference more overt was episode 5 of season 3, in which, after returning to New York following his escape from captivity, Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy noticed a Robert Singer poster.
Another Easter egg came in ' season 2 finale. Initially a beloved member of the Seven, Aya Cash's Stormfront was exposed as a white supremacist, leading to her being widely criticized by the public.
That, in turn, led to the creation of an animated video of her being run over by a black . Moreover, episode 5 of ' third season showed a recording of Soldier Boy being experimented on. In it, one of the scientists mentioned a procedure performed on Soldier Boy on January 24, which is Dean Winchester's birthday, as well as the birthday of Eric Kripke's wife.
