Jensen Ackles confirms Supernatural spin-off has been axed

Actor Jensen Ackles has confirmed that the Supernatural spin-off series, The Winchesters, will not be returning for a second season. The show, which debuted on The CW in October 2022, followed the early lives of Sam and Dean Winchester, the central characters of Supernatural.

Despite a dedicated fan base, the series was cancelled after just one season in May due to "major changes" at the network and the ongoing writer's strike. Jensen Ackles expressed his gratitude towards the fans and the cast and crew of the show. He acknowledged the unfortunate timing of the cancellation, which was influenced by the network's shift and the industry strike.
