NCIS star Mark Harmon has co-written a book called "Ghosts of Honolulu" with former NCIS special agent Leon Carroll Jr. The book tells the real-life story of Douglas Wada, the only Japanese-American agent in naval intelligence during the early days of naval intelligence operations. Set in Honolulu before the formation of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, the book follows Wada's undercover work as a journalist and translator of Japanese consulate wiretaps. The story includes a family of Nazi spies, growing anti-Japanese sentiment, and a backdrop of U.S. military intelligence agencies vying for control.
