Lisa Kudrow has spoken out about the passing of her dear friend and co-star, Matthew Perry. It has been two weeks since Perry's death at the age of 54, and Kudrow took to Instagram to reflect on the early days of their hit show Friends, which premiered in 1994. She reminisced about shooting the pilot episode, titled Friends Like Us, and how quickly the show was picked up by NBC. Kudrow expressed her gratitude towards Perry for suggesting they play poker during their bonding time and making it so much fun.
She thanked him for always making her laugh uncontrollably, to the point where her muscles ached and tears streamed down her face every day. Kudrow also acknowledged the compromise and open-heartedness required in their six-way relationship on the show. She thanked Perry for showing up to work, even when he wasn't feeling well, and for his exceptional talent. She expressed her gratitude for the "best 10 years a person gets to have" and for the trust Perry had in her.
During the segment, they reminisced about their time on the show and even discussed their on-screen kiss, which occurred during season five. They both expressed their fondness for the show and admitted they would continue if given the chance. In 2022, Perry released his memoir titled Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, and Kudrow wrote the foreword. In it, she praised Perry for being intelligent, charming, sweet, sensitive, reasonable, and rational.
