Alexander Calvert is set to make a return to Supernatural tonight, reappearing as none other than the son of Lucifer. In preparation for his comeback, Calvert shares 10 intriguing facts about his character and the show with MarieClaire.com.
1. To get into character as Jack, all I need to do is simply glance down at my trusty old man velcro sneakers, which have a distinct preschool-style.
2. One of the perks of filming on location in Vancouver, British Columbia is being able to explore and work in the beautiful surroundings of the province, even in varying weather conditions such as sun, rain, and most recently, snow.
3. In the most recent episode titled "Good Intentions," I had the pleasure of working alongside Samantha Smith and Jim Beaver. We filmed in pouring rain, creating a scene that felt like we were shooting the sequel to Apocalypse Now, unfolding in a muddy pit.
4. While the characters on Supernatural tend to rely on fast food burger joints for their meals due to their constant travels, in real life, I've developed a newfound appreciation for Chef's Table.
5. As a teenager, one of my favorite characters was Joe Pesci's "Tommy DeVito" in Goodfellas. Playing Jack has been a lot of fun for me, as he is the complete opposite of Tommy DeVito.
6. The abandoned and decaying ferry in episode 9 of season 13, titled "The Bad Place," was my favorite location that we filmed at. It was a remarkable experience, especially with our director, Phil Sgriccia capturing an incredible one-shot sequence using a drone to showcase all of us running into the ferry.
7. Due to the fast pace of the show, the characters rarely have downtime to read, as they are constantly engaged in battles with demons or using angel blades. In contrast, in my personal life, I always carry a book or two in my backpack.
8. The most enjoyable aspect of being a part of Supernatural has been witnessing the remarkable community of fans who not only support the show, but also each other.
9. I jokingly mentioned on Twitter that Jack listens to Lil Uzi Vert's "XO Tour Llif3," but I believe at this point he is more into Tame Impala. 1
0. My ultimate dream for Supernatural would be to film an episode in New Orleans. After visiting the city, I strongly believe that its rich history and captivating lore would perfectly match the essence of the show.
Bonus! 11. One of the wonderful aspects of playing Jack is his unwavering dedication to the things that hold the most significance to him: family, loyalty, and nougat.
