Showrunner Erik Kripke agreed and even offered to be on set in Toronto to ensure they achieved the desired comedic effect. Kripke and Ackles have a long-standing creative relationship, dating back to their collaboration on the show "Supernatural." Ackles's portrayal of Soldier Boy differs significantly from his previous role as Dean Winchester, and they leaned into this contrast in Gen V. Soldier Boy's appearance in Gen V is short but unforgettable.

After being pulled into Cate's mindscape, Soldier Boy candidly shares explicit details about Cate's past sexual experiences before getting struck by lightning.

This unexpected manner of reintroducing Soldier Boy in the spin-off series was necessary due to his current predicament in "The Boys." In the main timeline, he is incarcerated for his unchecked villainy. Nonetheless, Ackles's return is always a joy for fans, and he delivered an outstanding performance, even if it was only for one episode.
